Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control
When you’re approaching a curve on wet or dry pavement, standard electronic Curve Control can sense if you’re going too fast and slow you down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you’re into the curve, G-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Standard Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
The available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert uses radar to identify a vehicle detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, you will be audibly and visually alerted.

3,500-lb. Towing Capacity
A Ford Escape with available 2.0L EcoBoost® power and Class II Tow Package can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Trailer sway control technology is included in the package. When trailer sway is detected, the system automatically takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help keep both the vehicle and the trailer under control.
The Escape can seat up to five. And its versatility lets you convert rear seat room to extra space — up to a maximum 68 cu. ft. — when transporting cargo takes priority.
Fold both rear seat backs for a flat load surface and 68 cu. ft. of total cargo space. Or fold down either of the 60/40 split rear seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. If you’re carrying items such as luggage, leave both seat backs up and you have 34 cu. ft. of cargo space. On Escape models with 17-inch wheels, the load floor is adjustable: (1) high position for a flat load floor and easy loading with the seats folded; (2) low position for additional cargo room.
The 2017 Escape has earned the Overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating** by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Ford Escape is equipped with features to help you maintain control, as well as to help protect you in the event of an accident: (1) Standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) includes Curve Control,39 designed to slow you down when it senses you’re going too fast for a particular curve. (2) The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when your tires are under-inflated (not available on spare tire). (3) Escape features the Personal Safety System,™ next-generation dual-stage driver- and front-passenger airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and front seat-mounted side airbags. There’s also the Safety Canopy® System with two-row side-curtain airbags.*
