The C-MAX Hybrid powertrain uses an eCVT, or electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, combining power from the engine and electric motor to deliver power to the wheels when you accelerate. Engineered, designed and produced in-house by Ford, the eCVT eliminates the noticeable upshifts and downshifts of conventional transmissions, providing a seamless driving experience.
C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid gives you the option of plugging in for a recharge or not plugging in. C-MAX Energi combines an advanced state-of-the-art, lithium-ion battery and electric motor with a gasoline engine. The plug-in capability allows you to fully charge the vehicle in 2.5 hours*, using the available 240-volt home charging option, or overnight, with a 120-volt convenience cord and standard convenience cord. C-MAX Energi uses an air-cooling system to regulate battery temperature and help maximize battery life. Another feature, EV Mode, lets you choose which mode to drive in – electric only, gasoline only, or a combination of gas and electric.
*Charge times vary. See owner’s manual for details.
C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid both come with a driver’s knee airbag to help protect you. Located under the steering wheel, the knee airbag works along with the driver’s front airbag. Also standard are front-seat side airbags and side-curtain airbags for a total of seven.* C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi also include a smart Front-Passenger Sensing System that uses sensors to detect if a front passenger is present.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
The SOS Post-Crash Alert System™ can activate the horn and emergency flashers in the event of airbag deployment. After the system is activated, you may deactivate it by using your key fob. This feature is standard on C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid.*
*SOS hardware may become damaged or the battery may lose power in a crash, which could prevent operation. Not all crashes will activate an airbag or safety belt pretensioner.
C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid provide versatile storage capabilities. To store smaller items and keep valuables out of view, there are hidden compartments in the second-row footwell behind the first-row seats. Just lift up the floor mats and there’s room for small personal items like a laptop or tablet.
When the snow falls, the C-MAX Hybrid SEL and the C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid have you covered with available heated front seats and heated, power exterior mirrors. The heated front seats have five comfort settings. When you turn on the defroster, the heated exterior mirrors are also activated. The heated front seats and heated, power exterior mirrors are available on C-MAX Hybrid SE with the Cold Weather Package.
C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid feature dual-zone automatic temperature controls in the front row. That lets you and your front-seat passenger set the temperatures to your individual likings. We have not forgotten the rear-seat passengers – they have vents as well.
