Fall Maintenace Best Practices

1. Tire Inspection

We recommend a thorough tire inspection to ensure maximum traction and safety in colder, slippery road conditions. A certified Ford tire inspection includes checking for irregular tread wear and sidewall damage, measuring the tread depth, and adjusting inflation pressures as needed. Fall is often the preferred time for drivers to replace old tires or switch to a winter tread.

2. Battery Inspection and Testing

Batteries are susceptible to extreme heat, with sub-zero temperatures causing poor performance. Fall maintenance should always include a battery inspection with diagnostic testing. Check for case deformities, such as a bloated case, corrosion, and leaking fluid; Also, be sure to measure the reserve capacity and cold cranking amperes. Batteries with the physical defects mentioned or failed the electrical test should be replaced immediately given the imminent failure risk.

3. Windshield Wiper Blades

Windshield wiper blades are often in bad shape after working hard through spring and fall with heavy rain and extreme heat. Be sure to check the wiper blades for fall maintenance, and replace them if they have rubber damage, leave excessive streaking, or are over 1 year old.

4. HVAC Inspection
